Polar November News

23 November 2016

1. Polar is delighted to announce the early release of Speedstack 2017:

Speedstack 2017 has 2 key requested items – plus a host of other updates.

i) Enhanced support for bikini builds in the Flex navigator (Speedstack Flex)

ii) Net Classes can now be added to impedance structures – this new capability is
popular with customers who use Speedstack to input into the constraint manager tools of a
variety of CAD layout tools.

Also attached is also a summary of changes and updates in Speedstack 2017 – with an overview of
major enhancements going back several years.
If you didn’t receive the attachment the document may also be found here:

** More detailed update information at the end of this email.

2. This new application note is written for anyone who specifies PCBs and has had the experience of
receiving two or more different constructions from multiple vendors – for identically specified PCBs

** More detailed update information:

a) Note – that as a 2017 release your Polarcare will need to extend into 2017 in order to
entitle you to the upgrade.  If you have a contract which has expired – or expires in
November / December 2016 – please contact who will put
you in touch with your local Polar office.

b) If you have been holding off updating for  a while it is always worth remembering that
we recommend you do not slip more than two or three years from the release version. Falling
back further than that can make updating more challenging as multiple file versions need to
be updated.

c) If you interface Speedstack to legacy systems,  Speedstack 2017 allows you to export both current
and legacy XML file formats which allows 3rd party tools time to adopt the new formats.

d) Speedstack 2017 also contains a beta  “Proportional view” or “Virtual section”  this
beta capability received a warm welcome at Electronica, and is delivered as part
of Speedstack 2017 to gauge the value to you of having a proportional
view of the stack.
