Smart Systems Integration 2018: Program highlights for visitors

The Smart Systems Integration Conference with accompanying exhibition once more offers visitors a multifaceted program for 2018.

Entry to the exhibition, which will be taking place from 11 – 12 April 2018 in Dresden, Germany, is free of charge and gives visitors the opportunity to participate in exchange with highly specialized exhibitors. Renowned companies and organizations have already registered including Creative Chips GmbH from Germany, the European inSSIght project, as well as various Fraunhofer Institutes such as Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics / FMD from Germany.

Future-oriented keynote speeches

At the beginning of the two conference days, five informative keynote speeches will be offered free of charge. International experts will be talking about current and important trends and events in the industry. Dr. Jochen Langheim, STMicroelectronics SA / Chairman EURIPIDES from France is set to give a speech about “Key Technologies for the Automobile of the Future and links to other smart electronics domains”. Prof. Dr. Albert J.P. Theuwissen, Delft University of Technology, Belgium, NL and Harvest Imaging, will talk about “From SMART to SMARTER: Recent Developments in CMOS Image Sensors”.

Free access to EPoSS sessions and poster sessions

Particular highlights of the conference are the two special sessions by EPoSS, The European Technology Platform, on the first conference day, which can be attended free of charge. Participants of these two sessions can look forward to the following future-oriented topics:

Session I is on “Smart Manufacturing – A Pan-European Perspective” and will include information about opportunities for smart systems in manufacturing by combining current industrial innovations with ongoing research undertaken at universities and RTOs on a pan-European level.

Session II, entitled “The Automated World – Technology Trends for the Digital Society,” reviews how application areas that are massively affected by automation strongly benefit from smart systems development such as health, transport, communications, for example.

The poster session in the afternoon of both conference days is free-of-charge for visitors as well. Over 35 poster contributions allow an insight into current research results and an exchange with international speakers. The following highlighted topics include: “Study of optimum thickness of self-buffer layer Ga-doped ZnO thin film deposited on PC flexible substrate” by Chien-Ting Chen, I-Shou University, Taiwan and “Long Range LiDAR Characterization for Obstacle Detection for use by the Visually Impaired and Blind” by Dr.  Rosemary O’Keeffe, University College Cork Tyndall National Institute, Ireland.

 Career tool: Job board

Visitors can benefit from a further free highlight, the job board, offered by the consulting group Wirth & Partner. This career service gives visitors and participants the chance to learn about current job opportunities offered by the companies and research institutions present at, or cooperating with, the exhibition. They can further contact the potential employers directly on-site.
