Erich Kirchner, a leader in the electronics industry died last week.
Erich Kirchner died in Herrenberg, Germany last week Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the age of 74. In the 80’s and early 90’s he was known as the plant manager of IBM Sindelfingen, a factory with more than 4.000 employees, where PCB’s and HTCC Ceramic Hybrid Circuits (multichip modules) were manufactured. When IBM sold the factory, Erich took a new opportunity and became the Plant Manager of the Siemens Augsburg PCB factory, which had just been taken over by AT&S. Later he worked for AT&S in Leoben, Austria.

Erich was an active supporter of the German association of PCB manufacturers, VdL, becoming a member of the board of directors in the late 90’s.  He was the last Chairman of the board of directors of VdL before the association merged with the ZVEI. For his outstanding work the member’s assembly of the VdL elected him honorary member of the VdL.

In addition to all of his technical and management expertise, he was a good and fair colleague. His high business ethics gave him an outstanding reputation within the electronics industry. He will be kept in good memory.
