News from Electronica

21 October 2016

At Electronica this year, EIPC will be joined on their stand B4.164 by a number of famous people.  Who they are and what they do will be the subject of a profile on them all, and this week we begin with three of them – FED e.V. & Zuken GmbH from Germany and First EIE SA, from Switzerland.

FED e.V.

Alte Jakobstrasse 85/86

10179 Berlin, Germany

FED (Fachverband Elektronik-Design) is a trade association for design, PCB and Electronics manufacturing.  Their annual 3-day conference has developed into a technical and scientific forum for electronics design, PCB and component production, in which visitors find out about the latest research, development and production technology and get inspired by coming into contact with experts from the industry.

As with EIPC, FED is a distributor for the international IPC Standards, but they translate them into German.  FED considers it an important task to increase the professional competence and acceptance of PCB designers, and has therefore developed a multi-step course system conceptually based on the specifications of the IPC. A key substantive element is the involvement of designers in the entire electronics production process. Important qualification certificates can be acquired, such as the ZED (Zertifizierter Elektronik-Designer), the CID (Certified Interconnect Designer) and the CID+ (Advanced

Certified Interconnect Designer).

They have more than 650 members in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and operate 12 regional groups that are active throughout the German speaking countries and regularly foster an exchange of information by conducting lectures, workshops and discussions.

First EIE SA is one of those companies who have been around for what seems like forever, but In fact they were founded in 1979.  It was in 2015 that they became part of the Inspec Group in Japan. They produce the most advanced technologies in the range of Photoplotters, Ink Jet Printers and Direct Imagers. First EIE SA has focused its efforts on the design of External Drum Multi-beam Photoplotters, which enables features down to 5 microns to be resolved at 50000 dpi with the new 512 beam Optical Head.  Recently they have installed one unit of the extra-large size Photoplotter RP1625-SXT with 1600×2450 mm film size.

Their latest development is the Direct Imager EDI500. This highly affordable equipment is the ideal tool for quick turn prototype shops. It can expose any kind of photoresist, solder mask, legend inks and even silver halide films.  100% of the maintenance can be performed by the customer. Today there are over 900 First EIE equipment installations in operation around the world.

In operation on the EIPC Stand will be their well-known Sales & Marketing Manager, Mr. Jean-Paul Birraux.

Zuken is a global provider of leading-edge software and consulting services for electrical and electronic design and manufacturing. Founded in 1976, Zuken has the longest track record of technological innovation and financial stability in the electronic design automation (EDA) software industry. Zuken’s PCB design software solutions have been changing the world’s expectations and ability to design innovative electronic products since 1976:

CR-8000 is a product-centric design solution that provides the tools to optimize a design at both the product and PCB design level. Product-centric design processes provide architectural validation of the design against product requirements. Validating the product architecture against the product requirements significantly reduces delivery risk. Product-centric detailed design includes 2D/3D multi-board design and implementation, FPGA I/O optimisation, chip/package/board co-design, and 3D MCAD integration all in one design process.

We will be joined by Myriam Müller, their Marketing Manager.
