Market statistics for the European Electronics Industry

12 April 2016

EIPC is delighted to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Weiss Engineering to support the provision of market statistics and market analysis under the in4ma program. The name of the program explains the goal: information 4 manufacturers collects market data and focusses on four sectors of the European electronics industry: Suppliers to PCB manufacturers, PCB manufacturers, EMS and Hybrid manufacturers.

There are four in4ma data services; smart data bookings and billings including export rates collected on a quarterly basis in4ma regular data which adds market sectors and sector specific benchmarks; in4ma annual data covering benchmarks and technology; and focused summary data reported annually on market summaries and forecasts.

The in4ma smart data output is an eight page report, showing participants how their market is performing and allowing them to compare themselves to the average numbers of the market. The report will only be supplied to participating companies.

The EIPC has decided to open the program to all European manufacturers without having to be a member of an association. The objective is to have bigger reporting groups with more reliable data rather than limiting it to EIPC members.

The in4ma program is headed by Dieter G. Weiss, an independent trustee for the electronics industry. Dieter gained his working experience from Hybrids, Printed Circuits and Laminates, before becoming the managing director of the German Association of PCB manufacturers (VdL). Dieter has also worked as a certified expert for the PCB industry for more than 12 years, mainly on behalf of German courts on technical disputes. In addition he was an independent trustee of the ZVEI in Germany for 13 years, running a market statistics program for the EMS and Hybrid industry. His company Weiss Engineering has been a member of EIPC since 2001.

All company data is collected under strict confidentiality. The trustee has a code of conduct and compliance regulations to comply with legal requirements and antitrust laws. Individual confidentiality agreements are signed by the trustee on request. The minimum number of participants per sector is eight companies, of which five companies have to be legally independent companies.

The in4ma program will be the subject of a presentation at the EIPC Summer Conference in Edinburgh on June 9, 2016. For further information or registration to the EIPC Summer Conference feel free to contact the EIPC head office in Maastricht, Netherlands (
